Ice Breaker– Members shared about items that someone made for them that gave happy memories!
Beach Cities Quilt Show and Seven Sisters Quilt Show– Members shared their experiences at both shows! Overall feedback was great and all that went had a good time despite the wildfire in the area.
Workshops:
Exit Left workshop with Beach Cities Quilt Guild with Tonya Alexander on 7/13. The cost for non-members of Beach Cities guild is $40 (reduced!) but must register by 6/30/18. If signed up for the workshop you can also attend the general meeting the evening before to hear the speaker without paying. The speaker is Tonya Alexander and the workshop date is July 13, 10am – 4pm at Community Presbyterian Church, San Juan Capistrano. § Drop in Class: $13.00 per class. (12 Students per class)
§ Beginning quilters bring a sewing machine and scissors and receive a list of supplies at registration. Experienced quilters bring a project you want to complete. Cutting boards and irons are supplied. About the teacher: Mary Ellen Ewert has been quilting for over 40 years. She has been teaching Quilt Art for the City of Irvine at the Fine Arts Center since January 2000. She has recently started a second quilt instruction class with the City of Irvine at the Trabuco Senior Center. Mary Ellen has taken home first and second place ribbons at the Orange County Fair. Her favorite technique is paper piecing or foundation piecing.
Philanthropy – Ann Ainsworth shared a quilt that members put together for victims of the Thomas fire. A volunteer offered to bind it. Thank you!
Membership– Mary shared that our guild has over 40 members and we had about 10 join since the last meeting! Welcome to all members!
Block Lotto– Ann A. won this month’s Block Lotto.
Quarterly Challenge:
May Mini Winners – 1stPlace was Bunnie, 2ndPlace was Kathy and 3rdPlace was Sandy. Congrats to last month’s challenge winners!
Our next Quarterly Challenge is Artful August. Create a quilt inspired by a work of art. It can be a painting, photograph, sculpture, or architecture. Bring a picture of the art that inspired your quilt. Any size is okay. It must be a finished quilt, quilted and bound.
Quilt Con Charity Quilt– Must be finished by December. Theme is small piecing and using a lot of negative spaces. We are currently looking for members to help piece this together.
Show and Tell, Quilter’s Block, & Going Green: We had a lot of fun quilts shared this month! Look on our social handles for a recap of all the fun projects! For the show and tell sign-up, we will now have a spot where members can put their social media info if they would like to be tagged when we post a pic of their quilts on Instagram or Facebook.
Door Prizes: Our door prizes this month were generously donated by Art Gallery Fabrics and Cotton & Steel.

Sunday Sew In
