Congratulations to our Best of Show winner Susan Manson! There were so many wonderful pieces entered in our Improv Challenge this month. Everyone should be very pleased with their work. The skills in our guild have really moved up with the help of so many great workshops.
We also want to mention that we had a wonderful lecture about Minimalism by Teresa Duryea Wong. It was just so informative and beautiful using examples from art and architecture to inform our understanding of Minimalisim.
Our next meeting is September 30 with guest speaker Carol Lyles Shaw. She will be talking about What makes a Quilt Modern. We welcome guests at just $5. Reach out in our email or there is a link on our meeting page.
Workshops are just around the corner. Libs Elliot, “Improv Stripes” is September 12, Sunday. There are few more openings. The cost is $60 for members and we welcome non members at just $70. Again, email us at ocmodernquiltguild@gmail.com. We will also host Daisy Auschehoug, “Giant Nested Curves” on November 14. Look up her work on instagram or on her website Warmfolk.com to be inspired.
We also have our sewing Sewcial on September 12. We welcome any member to host and use it as an opportunity for sewing or just catching up. Please let us know if you would like to host.
Lastly, we look forward to more members reaching out and volunteering for leadership positions. It is not that hard and is a great way to get to know guild members and help us stay a strong, vibrant guild. We looks forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the activities in September!
