Southern California Quilter’s Run

This will be held over two weekends this year! The dates are July 13-16 and July 20-23. The Quilter’s Run is a great opportunity to visit quilt and fabric shops in the area and get some inspiration from each shop. It’s also an opportunity to win prizes, grow your stash, score some new patterns, and have some fun! This would be a great opportunity for someone to get your feet wet leading a “field trip,” hint hint! For more info on Quilter’s Run, go here and here for more info on Row By Row go here.

Central Coast Quilter’s Run

This one is coming up soon: June 2-4. These shops are located from Ventura to Paso Robles. Superbuzzy, some wine tasting, and a mini buzz-y, anyone? Check it out here!

Scrap Swap

Elise brought four bags stuffed with fabric swaps and four lucky people were chosen via random number generator to take the scrap bags home! If you received a bag, take out the scraps that you want and then add scraps from your stash back to the bag and bring it back next month. Thank you Elise for coordinating the scrap swap!

Handmade Items Raffle

Elise donated several items for the raffle, thank you, Elise! The materials that she used to make her items were donated by Sew Vac Ltd. in Long Beach and the patterns are from the Sew Sweetness blog. The raffle items raised $83 for the guild!

Make It Modern Segment

Gail brought in several of her quilts, some dating back to the 80’s! In addition to sharing her quilts, she also shared some books that have been influential on her quilting including Quilts of Gee’s Bend, and Collaborative Quilting. It was wonderful to see Gail’s progression as a quilter, so thank you Gail for sharing your quilting journey with us! Elise volunteered to bring in examples of her quilting for our June meeting.

Social Break

Several members brought cookies for our social hour—thank you! Julie’s homemade chocolate chip cookies are a Martha Stewart recipe. They were all delicious!
