Welcome by Kelly
Lecture by Charles Cameron – Charles was an excellent speaker and presented key points on Color & Value Placement in Quilts. He shared his perspectives on orientation of shapes, his approach to color selection and placement such as selecting and placing color and value in quilts. Charles shared several quilts to demonstrate how colors were selected and placed in the quilts.
2024 OCMGQ Survey – final call for feedback.
Log Cabin Quilt Challenge – Quilts are due at the August 2023 Meeting. See slide meeting presentation for details. First Choice Award Winner will receive $25. Keep in mind that you have options on the layout – basic log cabin, improv, on point, courthouse steps, or very modern for example.
2024 OCMQG Community Quilt Committee Needed – the committee will be coordinating with our guild members the design and completion of our quilt for 2024 QuiltCon (MQG). Need a person to take the lead as the Coordinator for this project. The MQG establishes the color scheme etc. to be followed.
2023 Lectures for our meetings are in the slide meeting presentation. Our June 29th meeting will be Mona and Jonathan sharing their quilter’s journey.
Our membership dues provide us with access to the Modern Quilt Guild website, which includes numerous free patterns, webinars, etc. Take the time to log in to their website. See slide from the meeting.

Show and Tell had 23 quilts shown by our members! All lovely and creativity abounding.
Door Prize Winner was announced.

1. Our member Carrie Olsen will have a booth at the Art-A-Fair, from June 30th through September 3rd, Booth C-23, 777 Laguna Canyon Rd, Laguna Beach. Go see her wonderful creations.
2. Neighborhood Congregational Church 340 St. Ann’s Drive. Laguna Beach, CA. 92651
Dates: June 18-30 (weekdays)
Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Neighborhood Congregational Church
The church will display artwork by Allyson Allen. Allyson uses traditional materials to create unique, dimensional textile art, quilts, dolls, and handmade books. Her work often references social issues, Black history, and African folklore. Many of her quilts are created specifically for storytelling presentations. Her works were displayed last year at the church and the Laguna Beach Cultural Arts Center.
