Did I get your attention with the image above? It is by Libs Elliott from her website https://www.libselliott.com/. Libs will be teaching at a workshop on September 12, “Improv with Dynamic Stripes”. Registration is now open.
We have Marge Tucker teaching a workshop on July 18, “Modern Log Cabin”. A few openings remain, non members welcome. Write to us at ocmodernquiltguild@gmail.com.
Our June meeting was wonderful with a lecture by Malka Dubrawsky. We also got excited about creating our Community Outreach quilt for Quiltcon 2022. Kelly shared with us great information about literature for young adults and kids in preparation for our November challenge. Kelly is also keeping our Coat Quilt along running. She welcomes your photos and input.
We are very pleased to be offering scholarships for members who might not otherwise be comfortable spending on our workshops. Our latest minutes has the details and the link to the form to apply.
This Sunday, July 11, is our Sunday Sewcial. We would love to hear about what you have been doing. It is not just limited to sewing but that is the excuse we use!
I think you can see that our Guild has been very agile in adapting to the challenging year plus that we have been on Zoom. It has allowed us to have the chance to offer more workshops and speakers than ever before. In some small ways, it has allowed our treasury to grow and in return, we have been creative in ways to give back to the guild. We are so glad that you have continued to participate!
Our next meeting is July 29, 6:30 PST. We do not have a guest speaker but are planning a lot of interesting content. We would love to share projects that you are working on. It is also the first day to submit a quilt for our August Improv challenge. We will also begin to accept registration for our last workshop of the year, Daisy Aschehoug, “Giant Nested Curves”.
See you again soon! Keep sewing!
